A profoundly evocative performance, “Brick-man” draws attention to the horrors of Global Industrial Capitalism as a system of exploitation and the subsequent dehumanisation resulting in alienation from the very outcome of his labour.
The aftermath is an overwhelming estrangement with his very being, leading to
erasure of identity: a case of human objectification whereby animate is viewed as inanimate.
Divorce from the product of labor is central to Marx’s theory of alienation, a state of complete disarray.
