My interdisciplinary art practice aims stems from notions of exclusion, exclusionary processes and the dimensions they take in context of the everyday and current theories of Philosophy and Representation.
I weave together personal histories with macro narratives and collective experiences to investigate the nature of social structures comprising of social institutions and patterns of institutionalized relationships. Overlaying social structures are power structures, at the core of which lie control, repression and exploitation.
My work confronts notions of power, authority and questions of identity and belonging. It is more of a scrutiny of the everyday within intimate geographies that raises questions as opposed to finding answers to them; emanating from an interest in discrepancies between myth and reality, between the past and the present, between malleable identities and imposed histories. The final outcomes take their final form as imagery that has accrued shifting layers of meaning
